JUBA

Accommodation in Juba - capital of Central Equatoria State and seat of the Government of Southern Sudan - is not for the faint hearted, as South Sudan is engaged in full-scale building and construction of residential as well as visitors’ facilities.

There has been marked increase and improvement in the existing facilities with some shifting from tented camps to a mix of tented camps with pre fabricated buildings or even stone, many rooms available being largely tents.

A point to note is that accommodation can be pre-booked but one must exercise patience as miscommunication sometimes does occur as calling on satellite phones can be problematic as well lack of knowledge of Juba Arabic.

Yambio is the capital of Western Equatoria State and accommodation is mainly lodges that are built in a semi permanent or grass thatched mud wall houses built in a compound to make rooms for an individual.
