Mission Statement

A peaceful, prosperous and democratic South Sudan in celebration of values of its cultural diversity

Objectives

The Gurtong Peace Trust Project seeks to establish a South Sudanese Diaspora and Home coalition for the promotion of peace and stability among South Sudanese abroad as well as in Sudan itself. The website aims at providing information on cultural, social, political, humanitarian and other development issues.

The project aims to facilitate and encourage constructive discussion on issues of concern to the people of South Sudan and to link the members of the Diaspora and Home in a spirit of reconciliation and sincere love for the homeland. This is in an endeavour to bridge the gap between different cultures and allowing the Sudanese in the Diaspora and at Home to make a significant contribution to the search for unity and peace.

Thus, the main objectives of Gurtong Peace Project are to:

  • Establish a South Sudanese Diaspora and Home coalition through network linkage in the spirit of reconciliation and promotion of peace and stability.
  • Provide a non-partisan information platform on cultural, social, political, humanitarian and developmental issues concerning South Sudan.
  • Facilitate and encourage dialogue through constructive discussion on the Discussion Board on matters that concern South Sudanese at Home and in the Diaspora.
  • Encourage the growth of an information resource facility on South Sudan through the collection of documentation in order to support developmental activities.
  • Encourage the participation of younger generations in all aspects of nation building by using the Internet as a tool to engage their interest.
  • Create knowledge and awareness of the people living in South Sudan to promote respect for their cultural identity.
